Disney acquired Power Rangers, and the brand's merchandising rights, when the company purchased Fox Family Channel in 2001. "Power Rangers Ninja Storm," which debuted in 2003, was the first production solely managed by Disney. Today, Power Rangers remains a mainstay for youngsters as Disney has improved production value while also incorporating contemporary activities and interests into each storyline, such as extreme sports.
Power Rangers is a top priority in the boys' arena for Disney Consumer Products. Initially a toy license, Power Rangers has expanded across all lines of business, including Apparel, Disney Interactive Studios, Food, Health and Beauty, Home, Home Video, Stationery, and Publishing. Each new incarnation inspires fresh product designs across all categories, including new Rangers, villains and Megazords.
2008 Season Synopsis:
Power Rangers Jungle Fury — In the latest iteration of the Power Rangers' story, three skilled members of the Kung Fu clan Pai Zhuq, or "Order of the Claw," are selected to fight the villainous Dai Shi. The warriors are given the special gift of becoming the Jungle Fury Power Rangers, and are the Earth's only hope to stop an army of evil animal spirits from overtaking the world. Throughout their journey, the Rangers are joined by other highly trained members of the Kung Fu clan to teach them important lessons and help them in their battle.
